Sleepaway Camps In Maryland

At many residential camps, campers bunk in rustic cabins.

When it comes to selecting a residential camp, the American Camp Association recommends considering factors such as the camp’s distance from your home, whether you want a co-ed camp and whether you prefer a traditional or specialty camp. You should also think about the ideal length of the camp. Many residential camps offer one- and two-week sessions, while others allow campers to stay as long as eight weeks or more. In Maryland, you’ll find several sleep-away camps throughout the state.

Echo Hill Camp

Echo Hill is a residential camp on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Open to boys and girls ages 7 to 16, Echo Hill offers sessions of varying lengths, from two to eight weeks long. Campers select their own morning and afternoon activities, such as water skiing, tubing, sailing, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, music, drama and paintball. Evening events include talent shows, ice cream socials, movies and bowling. Campers sleep in large platform tents with bunk beds and no electricity. Enclosed shower facilities are outdoors with no roof. All camp activities and meals are co-ed, but living and bathroom facilities are separate. Echo Hill offers buffet-style meals, including vegetarian options.
